My essays and book reviews have been published in the Guardian, the TLS, the LA Times, the Washington Post, and LitHub, among other places. I used to write an advice column in the LA Review of Books—Ask Ellie—which drew on myth, folk tales, and classic literature for life guidance.

I work privately with authors, helping them to hone their imaginative practices and tell stories that really need to be told. This work draws on more than fifteen years’ experience as an editor, working with publishers in New York and London.
