I live in Los Angeles and write about books and place. You can read me in the LA Times, the Washington Post, the Guardian, the TLS, the LA Review of Books, and elsewhere. I write a TinyLetter about place and learning to live with the sense of elsewhere, something that dogs me and apparently lots of other modern humans too. You can subscribe and read past letters here. And I translate from Spanish, too.
I grew up in southeast London and studied English literature at University College London, then got an MA from King's College London in Modern and Victorian English literature. I later worked as an editor at Hesperus Press in London, Time Out magazine in Buenos Aires, and Melville House in Brooklyn. I've been lucky enough to work on great books, from bestsellers to cult classics.
